Resident Spotlight: Harvey’s Painting

When Harvey Combs moved to Sunset Manor & Villages three years ago he wasn’t sure if the Lord wanted him to continue his lifelong passion for painting but he felt called to pick up the paintbrush.  That was 48 paintings ago and Harvey is now close to his goal of 50 paintings!  Harvey’s interest in art began when he attended grade school at Washington School in Holland, Michigan.  After Harvey retired from Herman Miller, he, and the love of his life Gert, to whom he was married to for 72 years, would travel from California to Maine by car, and Harvey would stop and paint scenes that inspired him.  They traveled in a large Cadillac so he could fit his easel, many canvases and painting supplies.   When someone does something nice for Harvey doesn’t want to thank them by treating them to dinner but instead with a painting.

Thank you, Harvey for brightening many lives at Sunset through your “love of painting”- we are blessed to have you in our Sunset family!
