This year for National Volunteer Week (April 18-24), we’d like to highlight our amazing volunteers at Sunset Senior Communities.
Volunteerism is a wonderful way to get involved with Sunset Senior Communities! Not only is it a major component of philanthropy, but our organization relies greatly on volunteers to execute programs and activities. Our dedicated volunteers are integral in serving our residents in a spirit of Christian love.
Meals at Home
One way to volunteer at Sunset Senior Communities is to be a volunteer driver for our Meals at Home program. Meals at Home works to deliver meals cooked right in our Manor & Villages kitchen to homebound individuals. Our goal is to help those with physical limitations to live independently in their own homes. The need for meals may be short-term (due to surgery or rehabilitation) or long-term (due to illness or other limitations).
SAIDO Learning
Another great way to volunteer at Sunset Senior Communities is by becoming a SAIDO Learning Supporter. SAIDO Learning is an innovative, non-pharmacological treatment that has been clinically proven to improve the symptoms of dementia and dramatically impact the quality of life for older adults. The SAIDO method involves a caregiver (called a Supporter) trained to work with two older adults (called Learners) by engaging them in a series of precise, yet simple, arithmetic, writing, and reading exercises. At Waterford Place, we are fortunate to be a SAIDO Learning Model Community! Our SAIDO Supporters always leave their sessions feeling blessed and invigorated.

General Volunteers
If you’re unsure of where your talents would best be used volunteering at Sunset Senior Communities, we are always looking for general volunteers throughout each of our communities. Some volunteering might include assisting with activities or even just visiting with our residents!
