How you choose to live out your retirement years is completely unique, and senior living should reflect that. Life Plan Communities like Sunset offer a maintenance-free, low-stress lifestyle with additional care options all on one campus. In this blog, we’ll explore the senior living options that a life plan community provides, so you can make a more informed decision to truly maximize your retirement years.
Independent Living
Independent living communities are perfect for active older adults looking to savor their retirement years. These communities provide a maintenance-free lifestyle that fosters connections between residents, often featuring a variety of recreational and social activities. Campus amenities like state-of-the-art fitness and aquatic centers, movie theaters, and unique dining venues are there for residents to enjoy at their leisure.
Because senior living is not one-size-fits-all, there are many independent living options to accommodate even the most unique situations. For those looking to downsize, an apartment-style home might be the perfect fit. And for those wanting to be part of an independent living community while still being secluded from the hustle and bustle, a villa with lake views might be of interest. Whatever living option you choose, rest assured that you will be able to enjoy all of the activities and amenities offered at the campus.
At Sunset, we offer two independent living communities – Manor & Villages and Waterford Place. Homes at these communities range from 506 ft2 efficiencies to 1,450 ft2 apartments and 1,380 ft2 villas.
Assisted Living
Assisted living communities are designed for seniors who need help with activities of daily living (ADLs), while also providing access to social opportunities and amenities. Residents in assisted living still enjoy independence, but with the added peace of mind that a friendly caregiver is available to them 24/7. Most seniors in assisted living require moderate assistance with activities like medication administration, bathing, and dining.
At Sunset, we offer assisted living at all four of our communities. Private suite-style and one-bedroom rooms allow our residents in assisted living to maintain as much independence as possible within a supportive and safe environment.
Memory Care
Memory care communities are specifically designed to support seniors living with memory affecting diseases. From highly specialized environments to specifically educated staff, memory care communities provide a safe and calming space for residents and peace of mind for their loved ones. Often times, memory care communities feature a homelike, open-concept environment that promotes safety, comfortability, and engagement while fostering friendships between residents.

Skilled Nursing
Skilled nursing communities, or what most people refer to as a nursing home, are designed to provide onsite therapy services and complex condition management. All staff members providing care in a skilled nursing environment are certified and specifically trained. Skilled nursing communities are beneficial for those who need short-term rehabilitation to accelerate healing after a surgery or hospital stay, as well as those who have complex chronic medical conditions that require 24/7 nursing care. And while those living in skilled nursing often have additional health challenges, it does not mean the opportunities for engagement and connection are lost.
